AAA Lakeside Storage has a full on Museum of Petrolania. Items like antique porcelain signs, an antique gas station, and close to a hundred antique gas pumps from 1917 pre-visibles to pumps in the late fifties. Some of the collection includes the only signs of their kind in Utah and some are extremely rare to find anywhere. Also included in the collection are antique cars and auto memorabilia from the good old days when gas was below $.20/gal! Cheap gas PLUS full service is what comprised the "good old days".
Sparky's Collection
Petroliana “is a category of collectibles that is related to gas stations or the petroleum industry. Petroliana memorabilia include items such as old gas pumps, fuel advertisements, enamel or tin signs, oil cans and tins, and road maps.” Wikipdedia
Owner, Sparky Sparks recalls, "Sometime in 1983, I partnered with my father and we developed a 13-acre piece of property across the street from Lakeside Storage to build my “dream business” which was Lakeside Campground. Since that was the year of the flood and the Utah State Park and boat harbor were under water we had no traffic on West Center street so we needed to advertise to get customers to come to our business from I 15.

Early on in my collecting signs and gas pumps days, I was struggling to find contacts of people to buy things from and I just drove around and sniffing out the cool stuff still left to be had by Junk Hunters like me.
I heard of a collector that lived somewhere around Blackfoot, ID. I had heard he was an excellent source for Gas Pumps and Signs and Globes, which I didn’t collect at the time. We headed off to Riverside, ID where he lived but didn't find anything. However, we drove past a "junkyard" and saw some signs and other cool stuff.
